The author of above comment is not some brilliant political thinker, in case the comment itself doesn't reveal that. No, it's one of Rob's silly, dumb, republican buddies who happens right now to be in the business of killing babies.
So, to counter this Voltaire-esque brilliance, let me offer a few other quotable quotes:
"The greatest purveyor of violence on earth is my own government" - Martin Luther King, Jr.
“They know we own their country. We own their airspace... We dictate the way they live and talk. And that’s what’s great about America right now. It’s a good thing, especially when there’s a lot of oil out there we need.”
— U.S. Brig. General William Looney
“I believe that if we had and would keep our dirty, bloody, dollar soaked fingers out of the business of these [Third World] nations so full of depressed, exploited people, they will arrive at a solution of their own. And if unfortunately their revolution must be of the violent type because the ‘haves’ refuse to share with the ‘have-nots’ by any peaceful method, at least what they get will be their own, and not the American style, which they don’t want and above all don’t want crammed down their throats by Americans.”
— General David Sharp former United States Marine Commandant
“He who joyfully marches to music in rank and file has already earned my contempt. He has been given a large brain by mistake, since for him the spinal cord would fully suffice. This disgrace to civilization should be done away with at once. Heroism at command, senseless brutality, deplorable love-of-country stance, how violently I hate all this, how despicable and ignoble war is; I would rather be torn to shreds than be a part of so base an action!
“It is my conviction that killing under the cloak of war is nothing but an act of murder.”
— Albert Einstein
“...I have seen that we do not intend to free, but to subjugate the people of the Philippines. We have gone to conquer, not to redeem... And so I am an anti-imperialist. I am opposed to having the [American] eagle put its talons on any other land.”
— Mark Twain
“When I despair, I remember that all through history the way of truth and love have always won. There have been tyrants, and murderers, and for a time they can seem invincible, but in the end they always fall. Think of it ... always.”

I used to think that the Liberals lived in a dream world - and on certain issues they still do. But right now I believe it's the Bush supporters, like Rob and Lucien, who really live in a dream world.
U.S. imposed blockades and sanctions on Iraq killed an estimated 500,000 Iraqi civilians (mostly children and the elderly) before our March 2003 invasion. Since the invasion and occupation (yes, occupation, not liberation) 100,000 more have been killed. That's 600,000 civilians who have died because simple minded, authority worshipping, gullible Americans really believed our government's assertion that Iraq was a genuine threat to our nation's security. These people didn't question the administration's motives or doubt their judgement at all - they believe George Bush is a true American hero.
People like Rob and Lucien believe that killing 600,000 civilians is a small price to pay to supposedly prevent another 9/11-like event (keep in mind however that around 3,000 were killed in those attacks). They have a strange double standard where it's not okay for one country to attack another when supposedly feeling threatened unless it's the United States doing the attacking.
They also have a fuzzy, feel-good notion that attacking other countries will somehow make America safer. Infuriating the vast majority of Iraqis and Middle Easterners in general - will that make us safer? Maybe Saddam isn't in power anymore, but does that really make us safer? Did Saddam ever attack us, or even threaten to? No - every time we have fought him he has been on the defensive. Did he have ICBMs capable of reaching American soil? No - he only had cheap unguided scuds that could barely reach Israel. Did he have nuclear weapons, or at least a running program to develop them? Nobody is sure, but if there was a program in the past few years he did a good job of cleaning up after himself before he was ousted. He really wouldn't have had anything to gain by attacking the United States. Certainly he was no more a threat than Osama Bin Laden or the leadership of Hamas and Islamic Jihad. Overall, I would say a few million disillusioned and rightfully indignant Iraqi civilians willing to sacrifice their lives to avenge the atrocities committed against their people are a much bigger threat to the United States than Saddam Hussein could ever have hoped to have been.
Let's tally this up - the Bush supporters believe we invaded Iraq to disarm Saddam, found out he wasn't really armed in the first place, then changed their minds and said we really invaded for humanitarian reasons. Now they believe we're safer after we've just angered the entire world. My conclusion is that the Bush supporters are the ones living in the dream world.
Don't wanna be an American idiot. Don't want a nation under the new media. And can you hear the sound of hysteria? The subliminal mindfuck America.
It's Green Day lyrics I think, and I'm not a huge fan of Green Day, but it certainly appears that Lucien has realized that he had been in a dream world himself. Looks like Rob is the only one still sleeping! All who still believe that Bush isn't the worst President we've ever had... Dream on till your dream come true!

I felt so strongly, I had to say it twice. I felt so strongly, I had to say it twice.
